The T.R.I.G.G.E.R. Project - One-Pager and Slideshow
With our club’s current Large-Scale Service Project (LSSP) partnership contract with SMYAL coming to a close this upcoming September, our LSSP committee has been busy stewarding the process of selecting a partner for the next few years. The Kiwanis Club of Washington, D.C. LSSP partner organization receives $100,000/year for a maximum of five years to support a new or ongoing project that serves children and/or families in the District of Columbia.
Beginning with a review of what qualities we sought in our LSSP partner last fall, to the call for proposals in January, and the review of applications in April, the club’s LSSP committee has carefully, thoughtfully, and intentionally selected three finalists out of a record 67 completed proposals! Learn more about each of the finalists' organizations and their LSSP proposals by clicking the links above.
These three finalists will present their proposals to the club’s membership at our Annual Meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, May 13th, at 6:30 p.m. at Lost and Found DC (1240 Ninth St NW, Washington, DC 20001). After the meeting concludes, each dues-paid member will cast their vote electronically for who will become our next LSSP partner; members will have 24 hours to submit their votes.
Help Us Stay Aligned with Kiwanis International
Kiwanis International recently posted updates to the Standard Form for Club Bylaws. Some of these updates are simply for purposes of clarity, but most are substantive. To be in line with Kiwanis International, the Kiwanis Club of Washington, D.C., must accept the following changes to the Standard Form for Club Bylaws. For your consideration, please review this most recent version of the Bylaws and Mandatory Policies.
BYLAWS
Above linked is the version – provided by KI – we are being asked to vote on now.
Note – Two Optional Club Policies have been included for awareness since KI has moved some content from the Mandatory Club Policies section to the Optional Club Policies section.
The following are highlighted updates to the Bylaws (requiring a supermajority vote [2/3] of the Club for acceptance):
Article 3. Operations | Edits for clarity
Article 6. Board of Directors | Edits for clarity
Article 7. Discipline | Note – Edits from KI are captured in the hyperlinks making the proposed changes not necessary for KCDC.
Article 8. Funds and Accounting | Substantive edits
Article 10. Bylaws and Policies | Edits for clarity
The following are highlighted updates to the Mandatory Club Policies (requiring a supermajority vote [2/3] of the Club for acceptance):
Article A. Club's Dues and Fees | This has been moved from Mandatory Club Policies to Optional Club Policies – It has retained all language approved by KCDC.
(FKA Article E) Article D. Officers and Directors Election Process | Edits for clarity
The following are highlighted updates to the Optional Club Policies (included only for Club awareness – voted on by Board only):
(FKA Article A) Article F. Club's Dues and Fees | See note on Article A from the Mandatory Club Policies.
Article L. Special Membership Types | "Honorary Membership" was originally included in what is now Article F but has now been separated out to be placed in the appropriate Article.
As per Article 10. Bylaws and Policies, we are providing at least 14 days notice prior to a voting on the changes to the Bylaws and Mandatory Policies. Voting will open on Tuesday, May 13, and close on Wednesday, May 14.
