Sharpe Health School Christmas Party

Santa at Sharpe

Sharpe Health School is a Washington institution for children whose physical and/or mental disabilities prevent them from being able to be "mainstreamed" into the public elementary and high schools. For more than 80 years, the Kiwanis Club of Washington, DC, has arranged a Christmas Party for them, complete with a jovial Santa Claus, lunch, beautiful presents of all types and descriptions (recommended by their teachers and counselors), and entertainment which usually involves a visiting troupe of musicians and children's entertainers.

Volunteers from the Club wrap the presents, arrange for the entertainment, act as emcee for the festivities, one always plays Santa Claus, and distribute Santa's presents to the children's classrooms.
